Welcome to two new families
moving into the village, to Jane and Emma at
Welkin Farm Cottage and to Jim and Sarah at
Brimham. We hope you enjoy living in
Easenhall.
Many thanks to everyone for your help with
the recent Plant Sale, and to the crew who
served refreshments all day in the village
hall. The chilly weather perhaps meant
fewer visitors, but we were able to make a
grand profit of £600 for village funds.
The Best Kept Village Competition
is coming up fast and judging will be in the
next couple of weeks. Work on the
pavilion has taken precedence this year, but
if you can manage to trim hedges next to the
pavements, this will make a big difference
to our chance of winning our section.
John Cross has been busy with a couple of
extra mowing sessions on the village
greens.
The Race Night was greatly enjoyed by
everyone, many thanks to everyone who was
able to participate. Fund from this
event will be given to the cricket pavilion
repair fund.
Our next event for this cause will be the
Car Boot Sale on the Cricket Field on
Sunday July 12th. Entry for booters
is £5 if pre-booked by the Wednesday prior,
£6 on the day. Is it time to rummage in the
garage, or to clear out those cupboards and
bookshelves?
The gate will be open to booters at 7.30
a.m.(not before!), and open to the public at
9 am (£1 per car entry). Refreshments
will be on sale. Bookings and enquiries can
be made with either Carole Lakey on 832454,
Ann Jevons on 832433 or Margaret Campbell on
832268, with your car registration number.
Easenhall Horticultural Show & Fete Saturday
September 5th 2009 Calling all
gardeners, cooks and children: Do
you grow flowers, vegetable, fruit or
houseplants? Do you make jams, cakes or
biscuits? Do you arrange flowers? Do you
enjoy competitions? Why not enter the
Annual Open Show at Easenhall this
year? Just ask for a free schedule at the
paper shop in Brinklow, Malt Kiln Farm shop
or phone 832268.
Schedules as usual on the doorstep of the
Moorings, Main Street in the near future..
To help with paperwork let us know by the
Friday what you are likely to enter, then
bring your exhibits on the morning of
Saturday September 5th and come
along in the afternoon to join the fun of
the fete. We are hoping that lots of men
are having a go at the popular Men's Cookery
competition - a Pizza to the recipe
provided.
Other attractions this year include the
popular Novelty Dog Show, entries on the day
at the show ring. Do you own the dog with
the waggiest tail? The one most like its
owner? The best behaved dog or the best
veteran? We are expecting Mr. and Mrs
Oddsocks who will provide children’s
entertainment; Mrs. Oddsocks will be
painting faces. A bouncy castle will be
part of the sideshows and games, together
with Tombola, books, raffle, various other
stalls and delicious homemade cakes and
teas.
Parish Council The next
Parish Council meeting will be held in the
village hall on 16th July at 6.30 pm. All
welcome to attend.
Neighbourhood Watch There has been
a lot of activity lately in this area, so
please check your security. Burglars
broke a window at Stretton on Dunsmore to
steal the key left in the door lock, let
themselves in and caused considerable damage
before stealing various electronic
equipment.
At Stretton under Fosse a stable block was
broken into and horse equipment was stolen,
together with two Ifor Williams tilt
trailers.
The other information we have is in regard
to a black BMW with three men inside who are
suspected of several distraction
burglaries. Any sightings of suspicious
vehicles should be made to your
Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators, Bryan
Worth on 832853, Carole Lakey on 832454 or
Margaret Campbell on 832268 (note down
registration numbers if possible)
Pailton YFC - we managed a
creditable third place this year in
the annual YFC County Rally
competition. Our recent Clay Shoot held
in All Oaks Wood was very well
attended. Thank you to all who
supported us in both these activities.
If you thought YOUNG FARMERS was
all about Welly Boots and Tractors then
THINK AGAIN...
You
don't have to be a farmer to join Young
Farmers! In fact, you don't even need to
know one end of a cow from t'other (though
we wouldn't advise standing too close to the
end with a tail ....)
So,
if you're aged 12 to 26 and live in the
Revel area then join us today!
- County,
Regional and National Competitions
